Why I Started Pearl & Laurel

Spending a day hiking with Pearl

There are moments throughout every day when we quietly become someone new.

Without thinking much about it, we move from one role to the next. We wake as caregivers, become professionals, return home as partners or parents, show up as friends, and somewhere in between, we try to remember who we are ourselves.

Those transitions can happen in an instant, yet they often carry the greatest weight.

For me, mornings begin with helping my daughter, Pearl, get ready for the day. In those moments, I want to be patient. I want to slow down, even when the clock is moving quickly. Then I step into my work as a pharmacist, where I strive to be focused, calm, and fully present for the people who depend on me. By the time I return home, another transition begins. I want to leave the stress of the workday behind so I can be present with my family. And when the house finally grows quiet at the end of the evening, I try to make space to rest, reflect, and simply breathe.

I wasn't looking to perfectly transition between these roles. I was looking for something that would gently remind me of the person I wanted to be in each moment.

That realization became the beginning of Pearl & Laurel.

I discovered that even the smallest physical reminder—a bracelet on my wrist, a word written in a journal, a simple daily intention—could interrupt the rush of the day just long enough to help me pause. In that pause, I could choose patience instead of frustration, presence instead of distraction, calm instead of urgency.

That's why every bracelet we create begins with a conversation, not a collection of gemstones. The stones themselves are beautiful, but their greatest purpose is to serve as a meaningful reminder of the intention you choose to carry. Whether your reminder is courage, peace, hope, resilience, focus, or grace, the bracelet simply becomes a quiet companion throughout your day.

The Journal exists for the very same reason.

This isn't just a place to talk about jewelry.

It's a place to reflect on the ordinary moments that shape our lives.

Here you'll find stories about navigating change, balancing life's many roles, creating meaningful routines, caring for ourselves and the people we love, and discovering that growth often happens in the smallest, most ordinary decisions we make each day.

Over time, I also hope this becomes a place where others share their stories. Therapists, parents, caregivers, survivors, professionals, and people simply navigating life's unexpected seasons all have wisdom worth passing on. My hope is that this Journal becomes a gentle collection of those experiences—a reminder that none of us are walking through life's transitions alone.

If there's one thing I hope you take away from Pearl & Laurel, it's this:

You don't have to transform your entire life overnight.

Sometimes all it takes is one quiet reminder to pause, breathe, and become the person you intended to be.

Thank you for being here.

I'm grateful you've found your way to this small corner of the world, and I hope The Journal becomes a place you return to whenever you need a little encouragement, a fresh perspective, or simply a reminder of who you're becoming.

Welcome to Pearl & Laurel.

We're so glad you're here.
